Meet a Community Member: Mel from Outnumbered 3 to 1

Mel is a mom of 2 boys who created Outnumbered 3 to 1 in May of 2009 as a place to share her life as an outnumbered mama in a house full of boys, and to help promote companies and brands. In January 2011, she brought in a team of moms who share recipes, crafts, reviews and more. Two months later, the tragic loss of her father brought in 3 teenage siblings to live with her family, and the quest for a bigger house was on. Her large family now resides in a beautiful house in a small town on a lake. It’s taken some adjusting getting used to rural life, but a year later, her family is happier than ever. So happy in fact, that after over 14 years together, she finally married her best friend in July of 2012!

What has been your favorite campaign with Social Fabric?

I’ve enjoyed very many of them, but I think the Odwalla Champions for Kids one was great. I took my finds to the local food pantry and was able to meet some great people in my community. They were quite impressed with my generosity and even posed for a photo opp!

What do you enjoy most about the Social Fabric Community?

Of course I enjoy the shops and campaigns, but I also like that the group is there for each other, to lend a helping hand, words of encouragement and/or advice. Each Campaign Leader I’ve worked with has been helpful and quickly responds to any questions or concerns. I love that the team leading the community is always striving to make it better.

Any fun or interesting facts about yourself or your blog that you would like to share with the world?

We joke about living in a zoo since we have 7 people, 3 dogs, a ferret, a bearded dragon and random small pets the kids bring home.

If you were sent to a deserted island with one other person, who would it be and what 3 things would you bring with you?

That’s a tough one because I’d never want to be without the kids. If they ever saw this and I chose one over the other, they’d probably be upset, so I’ll go with my husband. I’d like a knife, lighter/matches and lots of drinkable water.
