Our One Day #WithoutShoes
Today the Collective Bias team and Social Fabric® community are joining together in One Day #WithoutShoes. This global movement has been inspired by TOMS, a shoe company known for its One for One Model and impressive mobilization of people aligned with its mission. Similarly, the goal of this One Day is to drive further awareness of the reality that millions of children in the world lack this basic resource: shoes.
Can you imagine not having any shoes? Not one pair? Each morning I deliberate over which pair to wear: These flats? Those flats? Stilettos? Patent? Patterned? It’s safe to say that most of us are blessed beyond belief with “stuff” and basic needs, probably even spoiled. So for One Day, it seems like such a simple decision to take part in this conversation and action of going without. Pause and think about what it would be like to lack shoes, to be at risk for debilitating and disfiguring foot diseases and to miss out on opportunities and education due to a lack of shoes.
While we won’t solve this global challenge during One Day, we will take a step forward in educating ourselves about this great need and finding out how we can help provide children with basic resources, whether globally or locally.
Today I may have to put shoes on for one client meeting (I know, weak) but for the majority of the day, my feet will be shoeless. What about you? Will you go without, too? Spread awareness via a picture, tweet or Facebook share using hashtag #WithoutShoes and #cbias.
No matter how we get involved on this One Day, April 10, 2012, I think we will find this TOMS thought true: “A Few Feet Can Go a Long Way.”

If I could go without shoes i would, but I understand that there are people who have no choice but to go without them and desperately need them. I couldn’t go without shoes because I work in a hardware store so for safety reasons I couldn’t go without them. I’ve had shoes and socks off since I walked in the door. =)
Hi Mimi, thank you so much for participating!
It was an awesome day of awareness, and it has inspired me to look further into opportunities to serve locally and globally. Thank you for going without with us!
I was at home all day so it was super easy for me to get involved! Thank you so much for the education on this subject!
Thank you for taking part, April!
Yay!
