Theme of the Week: Hot Holiday Deals

This week in the Social Fabric community, our theme has been Hot Holiday Deals. With Black Friday last week and Cyber Monday sales taking over this week, we’ve asked community members to share all of the fabulously hot deals they’ve been finding. This Friday we’ll be hosting a @CollectiveBias Twitter Chat at 12:30 pm EST; be sure to join us by using the hashtags #holidaydeals and #cbias.

We also surveyed the community to find out what they’re shopping for, where they’re shopping, and what kind of deals they’re watching for. Here’s a bit of insight we received from Social Fabric members.

Members were asked when they normally start their Christmas shopping. Interestingly, 40% of members start shopping on Black Friday, while 33% shop all year long. 95% of members stated that they shop both online and instore. So, what kinds of deals are most popular? 90% answered electronics, 85% answered toys & games, and 68% answered either home decor or holiday items. When asked if they participate in Black Friday shopping, 76% said yes. 97% also stated they do their Black Friday shopping at mass retail stores like Walmart, Kmart, or Target. We also asked what the hottest holiday deal has been this year. A variety of answers came back including TV’s, Xbox 360, phones, toys & games, luggage, etc. Toys have seemingly been a very popular item this year amongst Social Fabric members, as there have been quite a few deals available like Monster High dolls for $10, 50% off Nintendo, a ping pong table for $88, etc.

Next, we asked members to share their latest posts on hot holiday deals. Here are just a few:

April, from Heartfelt Homeschooling, shares some of the sweet deals she found on Christmas ornaments at Kmart. She found 687 ornaments to choose from just on the Kmart website alone.
