Thursday, September 29, is National Coffee Day, and in honor of that, our theme this week has surrounded that warm, brown, energizing liquid that noone can live without….coffee. Our @CollectiveBias Twitter chat will be held tomorrow, September 29, from 12:30-1pm EST, using the hashtags #NationalCoffeeDay and #Cbias. Be sure to grab a cup of coffee and settle down for a great discussion, as we’d love to have you join us.

This week our Social Fabric members filled out a survey surrounding the topic of coffee, shedding a bit of light on their habits when it comes to their everyday coffee routine. Interestingly, almost 38% of members said they buy their coffee either from a mass retailer (like Walmart, Kmart, etc.) or from a grocery store. 69% of members enjoy their coffee in the morning, while only 6% enjoy it in the evening. When asked what they like to use in their coffee, 55% like flavored creamers, 37% use sugar, 34% add milk, and only 13% like it black. So, what do members enjoy with their coffee? 51% of members just enjoy their coffee by itself, while 34% like to drink coffee with breakfast, lunch, or dinner. 41% of members buy their coffee on a monthly basis or every 6-12 months; 13% buy whatever type of coffee is on sale. Interestingly enough, only 3% are loyal to one brand and will never change. Coffee shops are quite popular, and ourĀ  members also gave feedback on how often they visit a coffee shop. 41% visit a coffee shop monthly, while 10% visit daily. We also asked what our members’ coffee routines are. Many of our members reported that coffee is a huge part of their day. They don’t just make one pot. Mornings require many cups of coffee, especially from the time they get up through breakfast, until sometime around mid-morning. A few members enjoy iced coffee, as well. Quite a few members also reported enjoying a cup of coffee in the afternoon to cure that “post-lunch slump,” as well as enjoying a cup in the evening, as a treat, while blogging.

To celebrate National Coffee Day with our members, we asked them for their blog posts that center on the subject of coffee.

If you’ve ever wondered how that cup of coffee came to be, be sure to read Diane’s post on Turning the Clock Back: What’s Really in Your Morning Cup of Coffee?.

Brandie, from Home Cooking Memories, has a mouth-watering recipe for Coffee-Marinated Pork Chops.

In need of a Mid-Week snack? Tonia, from The Gunny Sack, shares a recipe for a Mocha Cooler that looks out-of-this-world delicious and refreshing.

Finally, Shelby, from Glitterful Felt Stories, shares a picture of her daughter enjoying her Peet’s Hot Cocoa.

Don’t forget National Coffee Day this week, and be sure to celebrate with us via Twitter. Now that your craving has probably kicked in, go grab that cup of coffee and enjoy!
