Quality Links Over Quantity
Guest post written by Timothy Fox
If you want your site to move up in the search engines you need your site to get backlinks from either sites with high page rank or sites with a high moztrust rank score. If you don’t know what moztrust is click this link http://business2blogger.com/metrics-of-seo-better-than-page-rank/
The bottom line is you need high backlinks, but you don’t need many for the keywords you want to rank for if you go for quality backlinks instead of a large quantity of links.
What are Backlinks
You may be wondering what are backlinks. Backlinks are links left anywhere on the web that link back to a site. They can be either do follow or no follow. A do follow link means that the website giving the link is allowing the search engines to trace the link and pass back link juice to the site getting linked to. Link juice is what helps your blog or site move up in the search engine rankings. For example if you get a link from a page rank 4 site that is a do follow link you will get a nice boost in the search engine ranking positions much better than a link from a page rank 1 site.
No follow links can still help your site but not as much as a do follow link. Instead the search engine spiders are not allowed to pass link juice from the linking site to the site that is being linked to. You can check if a link is no follow on any site by going to the top of the screen and click on view. Then click on page source. Next hit CTRL + G to bring up the find feature. Type in the link that you want to check. If in the html you see this by the link rel=”nofollow” then they have put on a no follow tag. If there is no tag then the link you are checking is do follow.
What kind of backlinks are there and which are the best?
There are many types of backlinks. Whenever someone adds you to their blog roll you are getting a backlink. Whenever you comment on someone’s blog and leave your link you are getting a backlink. You can also get backlinks from profile links or submitting to directories but nothing is stronger than the following types of links. The best type of links to get are links within long content. So if you got a link while writing an article or guest post on a friend’s blog that links to your site this is a good link. If the site you are guest posting on has a page rank of 4 or higher or a moztrust rank of 5.0 or higher than this is a great link!
By getting links within the content from different domains you can rank for a keyword easier with 10 to 20 links then someone can by building 2000 profile or directory links. Yes writing guest posts can be hard work, but if you have a subject or niche that you are passionate about you can do it.
Where to start writing guest posts?
Why not start by asking some of your friends in Social Fabric if you could write a guest post for them. They win cause they get great content for free and you win by getting a nice backlink to your site. Even if your friends page ranks are 1 or zero that link could still be valuable. In fact if you get a link from a site that has a page rank of 1 at the time you got the link and their page rank goes up to a 2 or 3, the link that you got will also get a jolt of link juice from their page rank rising. Plus I think writing and making friends will serve you well no matter how big or small a person’s blog or website is. You will get more opportunities to work together in the future if you are not a page rank snob. Of course if you have a friend with a page rank 5 or moztrust score of 5.5 for example and they want to let you post then go for it!
