Just Call Me a 34-year-old Junior High-Schooler

I’m going to preface this with I’m not much of a writer and apologize ahead of time.

I'll make you famous

Quite a few years ago I had one of my many life changing experiences,  I had to change from private school to public school, {Gasp} right? I actually grew up in public school until the 5th grade and moved to The-School-That-Must-Not-Be-Named for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. During this time I had settled into the school but never really fit in.

At the end of 8th grade something happened that at the time rocked my world and allowed me to leave (but that’s for a whole bunch of other blog posts and/or therapy). This move was really scary because during my limited years in private school I was led to believe (either directly or indirectly) that public school was of the devil. I thought that once I crossed the threshold I would have been stabbed, shot or other. Once I got there I figured out that was a load of hooey (trying to keep this PG folks…) and that all my fears were nowhere close to true.

Now let’s come back to the future but stop a couple months short of now.  Due to the planets aligning and a #3 Combo at Taco Bueno I got the opportunity to work at @CollectiveBias.  I was excited about teaming up with @JayThornton000 again, but at the time I was working at a local corporation and had been for 7 years.  I was in a stable place but extremely unhappy and had been for more than 6 months.  So all of a sudden I’m in junior high again but this time I had a choice.  Fears kept coming into my head, I was worried that the company wouldn’t last, that I would end up not fitting in, that I was going to lose everything by leaving my current job, and I was going to get shot (not really, but you see where I’m going with this).

Luckily I have an extremely supportive family (especially my wife, but don’t tell her I said that, it’ll go to her head) and they encouraged me to make the jump.  So I did and once again it seems that my fears were a load of hooey (this can’t be definite yet due to it’s only been 2+ months).

I still don’t know what we do (I’m kidding, well mostly), but every day I get more and more excited about what the future holds for @CollectiveBias and my part in it.

We had those guns when I worked at DaySpring cards in Siloam. The warehouse guys would come by on their forklifts and start shooting the floor folks. Good times.
