Blog World Expo Showcase: Shane Shirley-Smith

1. Tell us about yourself. I have a B.A. in Communications from Michigan State University and my professional background is in business development, social media and medical sales. I have been married for almost 20 years and have three daughter; ages 5, 10 and 13. After the birth of my first daughter, I found fulfillment in raising my family, volunteering and community activism. I was settled in life’s daily routine. Then I experienced a life-threatening health crisis due to a reaction to an artificial sweetener. During my journey to wellness, I began searching for ways to provide myself and my family with safe consumables and, through social media, began spreading the word to others.

My company, Environmental Health-Wellness-Beauty, LLC. operates various environmental health initiatives with the goal of “Waking You Up”.  Through my website, www.EnvironmentalBooty.com,  I offer consumer information, products and creative partnerships for a greener life and world. My goal is to help consumers and companies become aware of how their choices impact our health and the health of our environment.  I really believe that companies have a true desire to green their supply chains and provide greener choices for consumers. By providing a forum for open dialogue with consumers and suppliers, I truly believe that we are all creating a greener tomorrow.

2. Have you ever been to Blog World Expo? I have never been to the Blog World Expo.  Actually I have never been to any blog expos.  As you can imagine, I am off the wall excited and appreciate this opportunity.  When you ask me what I am most excited about, I think my answer falls into the category of an answer my 5 year old would give when I say, “I am looking forward to everything!”   I am obviously excited about meeting the Collective Bias crew and of course meeting new blogger friends.  I am also looking forward to any opportunities I will have to share my work with different brands and find out how their organizations are working toward going green.

I can’t think of any expectations I have other than hoping to learn some new things and start some new and mutually valuable relationships.   I am totally up for anything and ready to do everything I can for Collective Bias!

3. Tell us about your sponsor. From what I know about Collective Bias, I garner that they are passionate about  connecting brands with consumers through social media.  The concept is integral to what drives me and I am so on board with finding out more.
